Big three part harmonies, big dirty fuzz tones and driving beats.
In late 2014, three best friends from Marburg, Queensland were asked to get some songs together and play at a local festival. The crowd response was overwhelming and with this just scratching the surface, they started their most amazing musical adventure....... The Free Loves.
The Free Loves consists of seasoned musicians Greg McHugh, Athol Birnie and Rob Hawley. Having played with each other in different bands for over 15 years, this is the first time all three have played collectively. Between them they have performed in venues and festivals throughout Australia and New Zealand such as; Woodford Folk Festival, Rhythm and Vines BW Summer Festival (NZ), Brisbane Folk Festival, Byron Bay Blues Festival and Grotto Fest, to name a few.
The band is constantly praised for its unique sound and high energy live shows that are infectious. Their music has been described as “big three part harmonies, big dirty fuzz tones and driving beats".
The Free Loves released their debut three track EP on 01.01.2016. The songs were mixed by Grammy award winning engineer, John Hudson, from Mayfair Studios in London. During the first set of their EP launch, they were invited to play at the 2016 Mitchell Creek Rock n Blues Festival, by the event owner himself.
The band now has goals for 2016 to promote and distribute their EP across as many digital platforms as possible. They intend to perform a multitude of live shows, while recording a full length album for which they already have material.
